Vanessa Hooks
Director of Clinical Rehabilitation
Meet Vanessa, the Director of Clinical Rehabilitation at Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital. Vanessa has been a vital part of the team for nearly 13 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Tennessee State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Western Kentucky University. Vanessa is highly certified with credentials including ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence, McNeill Dysphagia Treatment Program, VitalStim, Myofascial Release, advanced endoscopy, and biofeedback. She also has specialized expertise in tracheostomy care and Passy-Muir valve management.
Before stepping into her current leadership role, Vanessa gained diverse clinical and management experience, including regional management for a contract therapy company and adjunct faculty teaching at Middle Tennessee State University. She also manages a private practice and is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Vanessa finds the most rewarding part of her work in witnessing daily progress—whether a patient achieves a milestone like speaking, swallowing, or regaining independence, or a therapist develops new skills. She is honored to lead a passionate interdisciplinary team dedicated to transforming lives through rehabilitation.
Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking and baking, and spending quality time with her husband, four children, son-in-law, grandson, and her beloved geriatric dogs. Her leadership and clinical expertise continue to make a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues at Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital.
