Josh Mitchell, DPT

Physical Therapist

Meet Josh, one of the dedicated Physical Therapists at Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital, where he’s been a valued member of the therapy team since 2019. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Belmont University in 2007 and brings nearly two decades of experience in both acute care and skilled nursing settings.

Josh’s passion for physical therapy was sparked by a personal knee injury in his youth, as well as witnessing his grandparents go through rehab. Those early experiences inspired him to pursue a career that would allow him to help others regain strength, mobility, and independence after injury or illness.

He is particularly experienced and passionate about working with geriatric and neurologically impaired populations, including individuals recovering from stroke or other significant health events. Josh’s approach to therapy focuses on building strong connections with his patients, helping them identify and work toward meaningful goals that support long-term recovery and function.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys staying active with sports and hiking, exploring his creativity through art, and spending time with animals. He continues to seek growth in his clinical practice with a goal of continuously improving his skills—not just for himself, but for the benefit of his patients and colleagues alike
